Reduced graphene oxide is one of the most studied materials. The microwave reduction of graphene oxide (GO) became a faster alternative to thermal and chemical routes, and the hybrid routes have also shown potential. In this work, GO was produced by Marcanos`s route and reduced by microwave irradiation and a chemical-microwave hybrid process. The obtained samples were analyzed through X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, FTIR spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, UV-Vis spectroscopy, XPS spectroscopy, and scanning electron microscopy. The characterizations have shown that the hybrid route resulted in a more efficient reduction in terms of hybridization restoration and removal of oxygenated groups.
