Graphene is a promising material with a number of unique properties. One of these properties is self-healing, so graphene coatings can be a great addition for a plasma facing material. The samples of graphene on a copper substrate were prepared using chemical vapor deposition (CVD). The irradiation was performed using He+ and Ar+ ions with fluencies in the range from 10(12) to 10(16) ion/cm(2) with 100 keV energy and at three sample temperatures: room temperature, 300 degrees C, 400 degrees C. Defects in the irradiated samples were studied with Raman spectroscopy. A decrease in the formation of defects during the irradiation of heated graphene samples was found. The resulting areal density defects were compared with the SRIM simulation.
