A generalization of the Shoenberg theory of de Haas-van Alphen magnetic oscillations in 2D metals to the case of electrons with arbitrary spectral dispersion is used to propose a method for determining the nature of charge carriers in the 2D conducting systems mono-and bilayer graphene. We analyze an analytical expression for the oscillating susceptibility as a function of chemical potential and determine its behavior for carriers with normal parabolic and Dirac-like linear spectra, which can be detected experimentally.
