The use of graphene, as a filler for the realization of a new class of inorganic/polymer composites, has induced a strong and growing interest in various fields of application. The effect of graphene nanoparticles, in organic coatings for the improvement of corrosion resistance, is an aspect not examined in depth yet. In this work, small amounts of graphene, GNP, have been incorporated into a water-based epoxy resin, corrosion inhibitors free, applied on aluminum alloy sheets. The results have shown that the addition of graphene to the epoxy matrix has greatly improved its protective properties, as demonstrated by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS).
