We present a fast and simple sol-gel method to fabricate a reduced graphene oxide-TiO2 nanoparticle hierarchical structure on the surface of TiO2 nanotube array. The hybrid has been carefully characterized by spectroscopic and photoelectrochemical techniques. The material not only reduced the combination of photogenerated electrons and holes, but also increased the number of surface active sites. As a result, both adsorptivity and photocatalytic performance of the catalyst were highly improved. The photocatalyst exhibited nearly 100% removal efficiency of typical herbicide 2,4-dichlorophenoxtacetic acid under simulated solar light irradiation with good stability and easy recovery.
