Theoretically, the Goos-Hanchen effect at the interface of a one-dimensional photonic crystal containing graphene monolayers has been investigated. It was shown that the lateral shift of the reflected beam can be remarkably enhanced when the phase matching conditions are satisfied for the excitation of the surface polaritons at the interface of the structure in the graphene induced photonic band gap. The effect of the optical properties of the graphene sheets on the enhancement of the Goos-Hanchen shift was investigated and it was shown that the beam displacement can be controlled by the tuning of the chemical potential of graphene. This may have potential applications in the optical communication systems. (C) 2015 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
