With the global market of conventional fuels in turmoil, researchers are looking for alternative sources of energy which should be clean, pollution-free, and superior in performance. Supercapacitors are among a few promising alternatives due to their easy preparation, environmentally friendly nature, and vast potential for research and growth. In recent years, 3D graphene has emerged as a valuable material for several applications. The successful utilization of 3D graphene in supercapacitors opened doors of exploration to scientists. Graphene, either solely or combined with other materials, is used extensively in supercapacitors as electrodes. However, the performance of supercapacitors is dependent on several factors. Performance analysis and the overview of these factors are always vital for future studies. This review provides insight into the most recent developments made in utilizing 3D graphene for supercapacitors along with addressing the above-mentioned issues.
