The composition and microstructure of graphene aerogels (GAs) play crucial roles in the electromagnetic shielding performance of their polymer composites. In this paper, the microwave-reduced graphene aerogel was prepared by the rapid microwave irradiation of GA. And then, the MRGA/Polyetherketone cardo (PEK-C) composites were fabricated via a vacuum-assisted impregnating method. The study showed that the microwave irradiation significantly enhances the quality of GAs, leading to a less defective structure and an increase in conductivity. Furthermore, the MRGAs are very effective in endowing composites with high electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding efficiency. When the filler content is 4.06 wt-%, the MRGA/PEK-C composite exhibits an EMI SE of 36.4 dB in the X band (8.2-12.4 GHz). The study also indicated that the shielding mechanism of composites is dominated by absorption.
