Graphene is an important functional material that could contribute to our sustainable development, but the sustainability of the production and use of graphene is often overlooked. In a recent One Earth article, Jia et al. evaluate the life cycle environmental impacts of graphene made from biomass waste. Here, we further expand on aspects that deserve our attention in future assessments.
