Graphite oxide was prepared from natural flake graphite by chemical oxidation method and subsequently thermal expansion method was applied to produce the expanded graphite (EG). On the basis of this, we employed the microwave-heating ethylene glycol method to synthesize graphene and platinum/graphene (Pt/Gr) composite. The SEM and TEM images revealed that the graphene we produced by our method was subtransparent thin film with layer structures. FT-IR and XPS were used to characterize the amount and property of carbon materials. We found that grapheme (n(C)/n(O)=5.94) can be used as the carrier of high platinum loading PEMFC catalyst. When the mass fraction of platinum increased to 60%, the platinum particles can still uniformly scattered on the surface of graphene without aggregation seriously. The particle size of platinum was 3.8 nm on average.
