CoFe2O4/graphene oxide (CoFe2O4/GO) composite was synthesized by a chemical reaction and was applied to remove Pb(II) ions in aqueous system by batch experiments. The composite was characterized by XRD, FT-IR, SEM and TEM. The effect parameters including contact time, the initial pH, temperature, initial concentration on the adsorption capacity of Pb(II) ions on CoFe2O4/GO composite was evaluated. The results showed that the removal rate of Pb(II) ions could reach 97.9% at the conditions of initial Pb(II) ions concentration of 20 mg/L, adsorbent dose of 10 mg, pH 6 and 293 K. Adsorption data were well described by Freundlich model. The kinetic study indicated that the adsorption of Pb(II) ions on CoFe2O4/GO composite was a good fit with the pseudo second-order model. The thermodynamic parameters suggested that the adsorption of Pb(II) ions on CoFe2O4/GO composite was an endothermic and spontaneous process.
