Graphene oxide (GO) has attracted increased interests because of its unique properties and potential medical applications, however, its long-term effects on biological samples are still unclear. Herein, the effects of GO on the Drosophila melanogaster were evaluated. Firstly, we prepare and chracterize GO, then, evaluate in vivo toxicity of Graphene oxide in Drosophila Melanogaster after oral administration. Finally, the results indicate that GO can induce developmental delay and reduce adult eclosion in flies. The toxicity of GO may derive from production of oxidative stress in Drosophila caused by GO. And longevity assay suggests that GO shows little adverse effects in the longevity of Drosophila.
