NOVELTY - Filtration device (100) comprises filter housing and filtration media disposed within housing, where filtration media comprises modified or unmodified graphene powder; and further comprising hollow porous body surrounded by composition comprising substrate (particularly yarn, thread, fiber or woven/non-woven fabric), where filtration media is associated with substrate by adsorption, absorption, impregnation or as a coating. USE - For removing contaminants such as toxins, bacteria, cysts, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), noxious fumes and unwanted elements, species and compounds from fluids. ADVANTAGE - The graphenes mechanically filter and also absorb contaminants, thus enhancing the process of filtration and reduce arsenic in fluids, turbidity in water and chlorine and VOCs in fluids. A substantial reduction of E. coli colonies in the effluent fluid was observed when graphene filtration media was used. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for removing contaminant from fluid involving contacting the contaminant with filtration media by injecting the media into fluid, mixing filtration media with fluid or passing fluid though filtration device; and removing filtration media from fluid.
