NOVELTY - The apparatus has a set of voltage regulator circuit components for providing a change in voltage level of signaling i.e. direct current (DC), between an input and an output. A set of graphene capacitors are provided at the output for smoothing the signaling provided to the output. The voltage regulator circuit components comprise a set of switches to provide for switched charging of the graphene capacitors to smooth the signaling. The graphene capacitors are biased such that capacitance of the graphene capacitors varies proportionally with applied voltage. USE - Apparatus e.g. voltage regulator such as direct current (DC) voltage regulator, an integrated circuit for voltage regulator, a processor for voltage regulator and electronic device, module for voltage regulator/processor/portable electronic device, for use in a mobile device (all claimed) i.e. personal digital assistant (PDA), that is utilized to provide tele-communication, video-communication, and text transmission such as short message service (SMS)/multimedia message service (MMS)/electronic mailing (emailing) functions, interactive/non-interactive viewing functions such as web- browsing, navigation, TV/program viewing functions, music recording/playing functions such as MPEG-1 audio layer 3 (MP3) recording/playing, frequency modulation (FM)/ amplitude modulation (AM) radio broadcast recording/playing, downloading/sending of data functions, image capture function using an in-built digital camera, and gaming function. Can also be used for a computer. ADVANTAGE - The apparatus is designed such that radio frequency noise is reduced as regulator output voltage has a reduced variation during loading and unloading periods, and effective output impedance of the regulator is reduced as the voltage is stable in all loading conditions, which is especially useful with voltage-mode drivers. The apparatus does not require additional linear regulators such that power can be saved up to 85 percentage and cost of manufacturing the apparatus is reduced. The apparatus comprises a voltage dependent capacitor which is visible during a loading period of a switched mode regulator and capacitance of the filter capacitor is increased when a loading pulse has voltage peaks that are effectively suppressed by increased filter capacitance, where a voltage dependent quantum capacitance of graphene improves performance of the apparatus even with relatively small voltage variations.
