NOVELTY - Thermoplastic rubber comprises a crosslinked network of end-of-life tire-derived rubber and one complementary polymer, where the polymeric matrix encapsulates carbon black particles or graphene particles. USE - Thermoplastic rubber. ADVANTAGE - The thermoplastic rubber provides a virgin-material-analog that is readily integrated at high ratio, into new tire construction using conventional tire chemistry and manufacturing techniques resulting in a sustainable and significant, positive cost-benefit ratio as compared to current tire manufacturing economics. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for a method for preparing a thermoplastic rubber, which involves combining vulcanized rubber particles, an auxiliary polymer comprising a reactive moiety, and an organometallic compound into a mixture, so as to induce delamination of a rubber matrix within the vulcanized rubber particles as coordinated with disrupting sulfidic linkages, so as to induce crosslinking of the auxiliary polymer into the polymeric matrix, and so as to induce a chemical reaction between the reactive moiety and a polyaromatic hydrocarbon, where polymeric matrix sequesters the polyaromatic hydrocarbon.
