NOVELTY - A membrane comprises a graphene layer perforated by nanoscale pores, and a gas sorbent comprising a material that contacts a surface of the graphene layer, where the material adsorbs gas and is permeable to the adsorbed gas such that the gas sorbent is configured to direct the gas into the nanoscale pores, and a hydrogen and methane separation selectivity of the membrane is 200:1 and 10-23:1. USE - Membrane for separating a gas from a fluid mixture (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The membrane exhibits improved properties for gas separations with high selectivity, and greater gas permeation rates.
