NOVELTY - A metallic substrate comprises non-conductive primer partially coated on at least one side with paint comprising reduced graphene oxide and a thermosetting polymer. USE - Metallic substrate e.g. aluminum, steel, stainless steel, copper, iron, copper alloys, titanium, cobalt, metal composite and nickel used for detecting strain deformation (all claimed). Uses include but are not limited to offshore industry, electronic industry, energy industry, expressway, building, bridge, airplane, and ship. ADVANTAGE - The metallic substrate comprises reduced graphene oxide with improved detection stability and provides a system having high detection sensitivity. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are included for the following: (1) manufacture of metallic substrate, which involves depositing non-conductive primer on metallic substrate, depositing a mixture comprising reduced graphene oxide, thermosetting monomer, curing agent and optionally a solvent and curing; and (2) method for detecting a strain deformation, involves applying electric voltage to the metallic substrate comprising non-conductive primer partially coated with paint using an electronic system, and measuring the electrical resistance variation after deformations of the metallic substrate.
