NOVELTY - Preparing copper-based catalyst comprises dissolving copper-containing precursor and base metal auxiliary agent in solvent, stirring to mixed uniformly, dropping the mixed solution to the porous solid carrier at 25-35 degrees C under the action of electrostatic field for equal volume impregnation, soaking for 3-5 hours, then drying at 35-120 degrees C for 6-10 hours to obtain copper-based catalyst, where the base metal auxiliary agent comprising metal salts of bismuth, barium, iron, manganese, zinc, potassium, calcium and nickel. USE - The method is useful for preparing copper-based catalyst. ADVANTAGE - The catalyst has conversion rate and good stability. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for use of copper-based catalyst in formation of acetaldehyde by hydrated acetylene.
