NOVELTY - A multi-laminar composite comprises layers of aramid fabric and layers of polymeric matrix reinforced with graphene nanoparticles. USE - Multi-laminar composite for ballistic protection (claimed) such as vests, shields and helmets used for protecting against perforating attacks. ADVANTAGE - The multi-laminar composite has high impact strength and high energy absorption capacity. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for manufacture of the multi-laminar composite, which involves mixing polymeric matrix with graphene nanoplatelets by casting in an extruder, preparing polymeric matrix film reinforced with graphene nanoplatelets in a balloon-shaped extruder, and combining alternating layers of polymeric matrix and aramid fabric by pressing under heating.
