NOVELTY - A plasmonic metal/graphene heterostructure making method involves heating an organometallic complex precursor comprising a metal at a first temperature Ti for a first period of time ti to deposit a layer of the metal on a surface of a heated substrate, providing the heated substrate in fluid communication with the precursor, heating the precursor at a second temperature for a second period of time h to simultaneously form on the layer of the metal, a monolayer of graphene and multiple carbon-encapsulated metal nanostructures comprising the metal, and providing the plasmonic metal/graphene heterostructure, where the heated substrate is characterized by a third temperature Ts.
