NOVELTY - Manufacture of nitrogen-containing carbon material involves heating a condensed ring compound (A) having a molecular weight of 500 or less and comprising at least one structure chosen from pyridine (I) and pyrazine (II). USE - Manufacture of nitrogen-containing carbon material. Uses include but are not limited to carbon nanotubes, fullerenes, graphite, graphene, graphene oxide, reduced graphene oxide, artificial graphite, and carbon black. ADVANTAGE - The method easily produces nitrogen-containing carbon material using an easy-to-handle low-molecular weight raw material under mild conditions. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - Manufacture of nitrogen-containing carbon material involves heating a condensed ring compound (A) having a molecular weight of 500 or less and comprising at least one structure chosen from pyridine of formula (I) and pyrazine of formula (II).
