NOVELTY - A medical device (6,7) has a contaminable surface (10,15) having a coating (11,16) comprising graphene oxide or a graphene oxide-containing composite material for generating an autodisinfecting effect of the surface (10,15), or the surface (10) of a component comprising graphene oxide-containing composite material. USE - Medical device such as medical instrument, and support cloth used as cover of patient table and/or its component, magnetic resonance imaging/computed tomography device or its component, wall, floor or ceiling panel of medical room, and input, display and control device (all claimed). ADVANTAGE - The medical device minimizes the risk of contamination of components just by being covered. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are included for the following: (1) manufacture of the medical device, which involves providing the coating on its surface; and (2) graphene oxide-containing composite material, which comprises graphene oxide embedded as a filler in a matrix composed of a resin, preferably a synthetic resin, or a metal or its alloy.
