NOVELTY - A composite material is manufactured by carrying out composite process of a carbon material and lithium compound. USE - Manufacture of composite material for positive electrode for use in lithium ion secondary battery (claimed). ADVANTAGE - Increase of electrode resistance after 1st time charging/discharging in a lithium ion secondary battery can be suppressed by using composite material as a pre-doping material of a lithium ion secondary battery electrode. Moreover, since the negative electrode contains silicon or silicon oxide, the lithium ion secondary battery has a high energy density. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are included for: (1) manufacture of electrode which involves coating slurry to a current collector; (2) composite material comprising a composite body in which carbon material and lithium compound are complexed; and (3) lithium ion secondary battery comprising separator interposed between positive electrode and negative electrode, where positive electrode includes the composite material, and negative electrode contains silicon or silicon oxide.
