NOVELTY - The modulator has a D-shaped optical fiber provided with multiple fiber cores. Each of the fiber cores is arranged with a cladding layer. The cladding layer is arranged on an outer side of a coating layer. The D-shaped optical fiber is formed with a D-shaped opening that is sealed with a graphene film. A first electrode and a second electrode are arranged with an insulating layer and applied with an electrical signal. An electro-optic modulator main body changes Fermi level of the graphene film. The first electrode and the second electrode are connected with each other. USE - D-shaped optical fiber-based graphene optical modulator. ADVANTAGE - The modulator has high extinction ratio, and is simple to manufacture, easy to package and inexpensive. The modulator avoids waveguide fiber coupling requirement. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - The insulating layer is made of aluminum oxide. An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for a D-shaped optical fiber-based graphene optical modulator manufacturing method.
