NOVELTY - Preparing ionic liquid modified graphene comprises e.g. taking graphene oxide solution, ionic liquid and deionized water, adding graphene oxide and ionic liquid into beaker, ultrasonicating, adding deionized water, stirring to obtain mixture, pouring mixture into polytetrafluoroethylene high pressure autoclave liner under nitrogen atmosphere, reacting, centrifuging resulting ionic liquid modified graphene solution with deionized water, suction filtering and then vacuum drying filtrate to obtain ionic liquid modified graphene. USE - The method is useful for preparing ionic liquid modified graphene (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The graphene has simple preparation process, low cost and higher water solubility. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - Preparing ionic liquid modified graphene comprises (i) taking 20-40 pts. wt. of a concentration of 10-25 mg/ml graphene oxide solution, 5-20 pts. wt. ionic liquid and 40-80 pts. wt. deionized water, (ii) adding graphene oxide and ionic liquid of step (i) into beaker, ultrasonicating for 20-80 minutes, adding deionized water of step (i) and then stirring to obtain mixture, and (iii) pouring mixture obtained in step (ii) into polytetrafluoroethylene high pressure autoclave liner under nitrogen atmosphere, reacting at 120-200 degrees C for 6-14 hours, centrifuging resulting ionic liquid modified graphene solution with deionized water for 3-5 times, suction filtering, vacuum drying filtrate at 70-120 degrees C for 6-12 hours to obtain ionic liquid modified graphene, where ionic liquid is 1-alkyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate, 1-alkyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate, N-alkyl pyridinium tetrafluoroborate, 1-butylmethylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate 1-allyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride, 1-allyl-3-methylimidazolium bromide and 1-allyl-3-methylimidazolium iodide.
