NOVELTY - A composite material comprises an epoxy resin functionalized with graphene oxide and reinforced with a natural fibers. USE - Composite material used for forming layer of multilayer ballistic armor for protection against rifle fire with 7.62 mm or 5.56 mm caliber ammunition (claimed) in personal vests and military vehicles. ADVANTAGE - The composite material prevents against rifle shots with high impact ammunition and captures ceramic and projectile fragments resulting from the frontal impact. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for manufacture of the composite material, which involves accommodating layers of carnauba fibers, in a continuous and aligned, corresponding to the desired proportion of 40 vol.% within a suitable metallic mold and adding graphene oxide-functionalized epoxy resin and a fluid, and capping the mold.
