NOVELTY - Aerogel material comprises grafted graphene sheet and 2-ureido-4-(H)-pyrimidone, where each layer of graphene sheet is assembled with 2-ureido-4-(H)-pyrimidinone layer to form a 3D structure. USE - The aerogel material is useful in dye adsorption (claimed), preferably heavy metals. ADVANTAGE - The aerogel material is environmental friendly; and has high porosity and large specific surface ratio. The method has simple operation. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for preparing aerogel material comprising (i) adding mixture of 6-methyl-iso-cytosine and 1,6-diisocyanate into a reactor, reacting under the protection of argon atmosphere, precipitating with petroleum ether, separating and drying to obtain 2-ureido-4-(H)-pyrimidinone product; (ii) injecting 2-ureido-4-(H)-pyrimidinone product into the reactor, pouring anhydrous N,N-dimethylformamide, again adding graphene oxide, uniformly dispersing the mixture, adding 1% 2-ureido-4-(H)-pyrimidinone with 1% dibutyl tin laurate, under argon gas atmosphere protection, reacting at 80 degrees C for 6-24 hours and carrying out suction filtration to obtain 2-ureido-4-(H)-pyrimidinone-modified graphene; and (iii) dispersing 2-ureido-4-(H)-pyrimidinone-modified graphene in N,N-dimethyl formamide, drying, allowing to self-assemble completely, washing with water, taking out N,N-dimethylformamide, pre-freezing graphene in a refrigerator for 8-12 hours, lyophilizing by controlling the temperature at -60 degrees C to -50 degrees C.
