NOVELTY - Preparing sodium alginate/L-cysteine/reduced graphene oxide magnetic water/aerogel comprises e.g. (i) adding graphene oxide, sodium alginate, nano iron tetroxide, L-cysteine, and sodium bicarbonate in acidic, basic, or neutral aqueous solution, (ii) contacting mixed solution with divalent metal salt ion solution, (iii) heating unreduced hydrogel in water bath in aqueous solution, promoting reduction of graphene oxide to obtain porous, multi-network hydrogel of sodium alginate/L-cysteine/reduced graphene oxide, and (iv) freeze drying sodium alginate/L-cysteine/redox graphene hydrogel. USE - The sodium alginate/L-cysteine/reduced graphene oxide magnetic water/aerogel is useful in different fields under the influence of an external magnetic field. ADVANTAGE - The aerogel has multi-pore and multi-network structure, large specific surface area, excellent mechanical properties, resistance to salt and alkali, and adsorption performance. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - Preparing sodium alginate/L-cysteine/reduced graphene oxide magnetic water/aerogel comprises (i) adding graphene oxide, sodium alginate, nano iron tetroxide, L-cysteine, and sodium bicarbonate in acidic, basic, or neutral aqueous solution, and applying ultrasound treatment and stirring until homogeneous mixed solution is formed, (ii) contacting mixed solution with divalent metal salt ion solution at 10-50 degrees C to obtain unreduced hydrogel, (iii) heating unreduced hydrogel in a water bath in aqueous solution, promoting reduction of graphene oxide by cysteine in the gel to obtain porous, multi-network hydrogel of sodium alginate/L-cysteine/reduced graphene oxide, and (iv) freeze drying sodium alginate/L-cysteine/redox graphene hydrogel to obtain aerogel.
