NOVELTY - A silicon-carbon composite material comprises silicon material which is nano-silicon particles with silicon-halogen bond on the surface, and pleated structure graphene which covers the silicon material. USE - Silicon-carbon composite material is used in negative electrode of battery (all claimed). ADVANTAGE - The silicon-carbon material has high conductivity. The graphene carbon coating layer in the silicon-carbon material inhibits volume expansion of silicon, prevents direct contact between silicon and electrolyte, and reduces excessive growth of solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) film, and damage to the electrode structure caused by volume change of silicon. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are included for the following: preparation of the silicon-carbon composite material, which involves (S1) mixing silicon material and graphene, drying to obtain silicon-graphene structure, (S2) placing the silicon-graphene structure in a halogen gas-containing mixed gas and carrying out substitution reaction to obtain silicon-halogenated graphene, and (S3) reducing the silicon-halogenated graphene; and a battery.
