NOVELTY - Electrical energy production device comprises a reservoir (20A) provided to receive an electrolytic solution (22A) having a concentration (C1) of a solute, a reservoir (20B) provided to receive an electrolytic solution (22B) of concentration (C2) in the same solute, a membrane (10) separating the two reservoirs, and a device (32). The reservoir (20A) comprises an electrode (30A) in contact with the electrolytic solution (22A). The concentration (C2) is less than the concentration (C1). The reservoir (20B) comprises an electrode (30B) in contact with the electrolytic solution of concentration (C2). The membrane comprises pores for diffusion of electrolytes from the reservoir (20A) to the reservoir (20B) through the pore(s), and at least one layer formed of a cellulosic material comprising a network of nanofibers and/or crosslinked cellulose microfibers. The device (32) is provided to supply electrical energy generated by a potential differential between the two electrodes. USE - Device for producing electrical energy (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The device ensures low cost due to usage of high-power membrane which produces energy by salinity gradient. The membrane is environmentally-friendly, and is economically prepared by an easy method. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for production of electrical energy using the device.
