NOVELTY - The article has side panels that comprises one or more elastic elements. The side panels are joined to chassis about a proximal end thereof and having a distal end extending away from chassis along a transverse axis (x) being substantially perpendicular to longitudinal axis (y). One or more elastic waistbands positioned adjacent front and/or back edges comprising one or more elastic elements. A detection device (113) is removably attached to the absorbent article. The elastic elements comprise a conductive material and/or coating and are in electrical communication with detection device that is arranged to provide a signal upon a change in resistance or capacitance in response to a change in one of extension, tension, and/or rupture, of elastic element(s). USE - Absorbent article with kit of parts (claimed) for personal hygiene such as diapers, pants, training pants, pADL, adult incontinence products, and feminine hygiene products e.g. sanitary napkins and tampons. ADVANTAGE - The invention is inexpensive and effective to automatically determine stretch and tension of elastic components in order to inform the user and/or caregiver about correct fitting of the absorbent article onto the wearer.
