NOVELTY - Preparing an adsorbent comprises dissolving toluenesulfonyl- beta -CD (TsO- beta -CD) in anhydrous ethylene diamine, cooling the reaction, filtering, dissolving the precipitate in water/methanol solution, and drying at 50 degrees C to obtain mono(6-amino-6-deoxy)- beta -cyclodextrin (NH2- beta -CD); and (ii) adding 1-ethyl-3-(3-dimethylaminopropyl)-carbodiimide hydrochloride and N-hydroxysuccinimide into graphene oxide dispersion, activating, adding NH2- beta -CD and PAA, reacting, centrifugally separating, washing and vacuum drying to obtain adsorbent beta -CD/PAA/GO nanomaterials. USE - The adsorbent is useful for adsorbing methylene blue in dye wastewater (claimed). DETAILED DESCRIPTION - Preparing an adsorbent comprises (i) (a) dissolving beta -cyclodextrin ( beta -CD) in deionized water, adding sodium hydroxide solution, allowing to solution to become clear, placing in an ice-bath, dropwise adding the clear solution into the p-toluenesulfonyl chloride in acetonitrile solution, stirring, mixing, filtering to remove the precipitate, adjusting the filtrate pH to 8, cooling for 10-15 hours at 4 degrees C,washing, vacuum filtering, re-crystallizing, and vacuum drying to obtain toluenesulfonyl- beta -CD (TsO- beta -CD); and (b) dissolving TsO- beta -CD in anhydrous ethylene diamine, cooling the reaction, filtering, dissolving the precipitate in water/methanol solution, and drying at 50 degrees C to obtain mono(6-amino-6-deoxy)- beta -cyclodextrin (NH2- beta -CD); and (ii) adding 1-ethyl-3-(3-dimethylaminopropyl)-carbodiimide hydrochloride and N-hydroxysuccinimide into graphene oxide dispersion, activating, adding NH2- beta -CD and PAA, reacting, centrifugally separating, washing and vacuum drying to obtain adsorbent beta -CD/PAA/GO nanomaterials.
