NOVELTY - A wettable cathode material comprises a substrate made of a conductive material. The substrate has a conductive surface which is covered with a protective layer. The protective layer comprises several layers of graphene layers or several layers of graphene/carbon composite layers. The total thickness of several layers of graphene layers is 1 mu m or more. The total thickness of several layers of graphene/carbon composite layer is more than 1 mu m. USE - Wettable cathode material is used for aluminum electrolytic cell. ADVANTAGE - The cathode material has excellent structural strength and wettability with respect to metal aluminum liquid, thus thickness of aluminum liquid at the bottom of the electrolytic cell is reduced and electrode pitch is reduced to reduce the pressure drop effect of the tank, therefore achieving energy saving and consumption reduction during electrolysis process. Graphene used during preparation of wettable cathode material has excellent mechanical property and corrosion resistance.
