NOVELTY - The manufacturing method involves oxidizing graphite in a solution. Hydrochloric acid is added to the solution to obtain potentials of hydrogen (pH) of 3 or less. Electrodialysis is performed to remove cations from the solution through an electrodialysis apparatus, which has a purified solution tube (105) between an anion exchange membrane (103) and a cation exchange membrane (104). USE - Graphite oxide manufacturing method for producing graphene used in power storage device e.g. secondary battery of electronic and electric device. Uses included but are not limited to display device, lighting device, desktop personal computer or laptop personal computer, image reproduction device, mobile phone, portable game machine, portable information terminal, electronic-book reader, camera such as video camera and digital still camera, high-frequency heating apparatus such as microwave, electric rice cooker, electric washing machine, air-conditioning system such as air conditioner, electric refrigerator, electric freezer, electric refrigerator-freezer, medical equipment such as freezers for preserving deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) and dialysis device. ADVANTAGE - Purity of graphite oxide is increased by performing electrodialysis on the graphite oxide solution to remove aqueous ions. The apparatus is safety operated by preventing corrosion of the anode and occurrence of chlorine gas.
