NOVELTY - Fabricating graphene nanoribbons comprises applying laser irradiation to a carbon nanotube film to unzip one or more carbon nanotubes of the carbon nanotube film to create one or more graphene nanoribbons. USE - The method is useful for fabricating graphene nanoribbons (claimed). The graphene nanoribbons are useful for building an assortment of nanodevices. The crosslinked, welded or joined graphene nanoribbons are useful as flexible, stretchable and/or transparent electrodes for electronic and photonic devices. ADVANTAGE - The method is capable of fabricating long, freestanding graphene nanoribbons with high yield, purity, finite (nonzero) band gap values, which can be tuned depending on their geometric features, high carrier mobility, high transparency, low resistance, and/or improved adhesiveness with other materials.
