NOVELTY - Manufacture of polymer waveguide accommodating dispersed graphene involves (i) forming a cladding layer comprising a polymer (P1) on a substrate, (ii) removing portion of the cladding layer to form a groove for the waveguide, and (iii) forming a core accommodating dispersed graphene on the groove. USE - Manufacture of polymer waveguide e.g. optical waveguide for passively mode-locked laser (all claimed). ADVANTAGE - The method is simple and economical, has low design complexity, and ensures dispersion stability for maintaining the dispersed state at which an optical signal having a user's desired level of nonlinear property is outputted. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are included for the following: (1) Polymer waveguide, which comprises a substrate, a cladding layer made of a first polymer, formed on the substrate, and a core accommodating graphene, and (2) Passively mode-locked laser.
