NOVELTY - Synthesis of 9,10-benzophenanthrene compound (I) involves (i) dissolving a bromobiphenyl derivative (II) and a diphenyl trifluoromethanesulfonoperoxoyl iodide derivative (III) in N,N-dimethylformamide under an inert gas atmosphere, and treating the obtained mixture with copper trifluoromethanesulfonate, sodium carbonate and cesium acetate at 120-140 degrees C. USE - Synthesis of 9,10-benzophenanthrene compound used as graphene monomer for organic optoelectronic applications. ADVANTAGE - The method enables synthesis of 9,10-benzophenanthrene compound with high yield. The method is carried out using readily available raw materials in a short reaction time.
