NOVELTY - A graphene spherical assembly body with 0.1-10 mu m diameter has the graphene sheet layers perpendicular to the spherical orientation of the assembly. The sheet is 1-7 nm thick. USE - A graphene spherical assembly body is used as cathode material of lithium ion battery. ADVANTAGE - The process is simple. The material is of low cost and high purity. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for the preparation of the graphene spherical assembly body comprising dissolving the mixture containing iron catalyst, organic phenol and sulfur at 1:2:1-1:2:10 mass ratio, stirring to uniform ultrasonic dispersion in an organic solvent, reacting mixture at 150-250 degrees C for 4-72 hours, charring under an inert atmosphere protection at 600-1200 degrees C for 4-72 hours, soaking carbonized product in hydrochloric acid to remove iron sulfide, filtering, washing, and drying to obtain the product.
