NOVELTY - Cathode composition comprises an elemental sulfur, a conductive carbon, a catholyte and 1-2% 9w/w of a metal sulphide selected from molybdenum sulfide, lead sulfide or tungsten sulfide. USE - Cathode composition used in solid state battery (claimed) for electric vehicles, and stand-by energy storage systems, consumer electronics, aerospace and satellites. ADVANTAGE - The cathode composition assists in catalyzing the polysulphide reaction occurring at the cathode, improving the cathode performance. And the low ionic conductance and the low band gap of the metal sulphide contributes in avoiding any grain boundary resistance in the solid state battery. The crystalline nature of the cathode composition also provides increased cathode performance. The higher mesoporous nature of the cathode composition facilitates the availability more pore sites for the catalytic activity. The cathode composition has mesoporous occupancy in the range of 95 to 99% with respect to the composition. The cathode composition provides a discharge capacity in the range of 800 to 1800 mAh/g at 0.03C rate. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for a solid state battery, which comprises the cathode composition, an anode and a solid electrolyte, where the battery has discharge capacity in the range of 800 to 1800 mAh/g at 0.03C rate.
