NOVELTY - Manufacturing a biodegradable drinking palm tree straw involves washing palm tree leaves with a solution of ascorbic acid, 99% ethanol, and water, cleaning the palm tree leaves with abrasive sheets, soaking the palm tree leaves, drying the palm tree leaves, heating the palm tree leaves to a temperature selected from a range of 60-140℃ rolling the palm tree leaves, binding the rolled palm tree leaves using biodegradable food grade adhesive and drying the rolled palm tree leaves, where the palm tree leaves are washed twice with a 99% ethanolic solution under an ultrasonicator bath and subsequently once with water. USE - Method for manufacturing a biodegradable drinking palm tree straw used in restaurants, hotels, bars, foodservice, households, cafes, and the beverage industry. ADVANTAGE - The method has a significant impact not only for the environment, by making it a suitable substitute for replacing plastic, reducing pollution, but also by recovering dried or waste date palm leaves, which are generally discarded or burned. This method has economic benefits in recovering date palm leaves and reducing the need for plastic straws.
