NOVELTY - A system for purification of water, comprises a water passage, a filtration pad comprising graphene oxide nanoparticles and silver nanowires, where the filtration pad is fixed inside water passage, at least one cotton pad fixed on each side of the filtration pad inside the water passage, electrodes connected to the cotton pads and at least one magnet fixed before the position of filtration pad surrounding the water passage. The water passage is aligned vertically to employ gravitational force for flow of water through system. The cotton pad before the filtration pad acts as sediment filter. The electrodes are connected to a power source for producing electric flux in the water passage. The magnet fixed before the position of filtration pad produces magnetic flux in the water passage. The electric flux and the magnetic flux increases retention time of un-purified water in water passage to increase purification efficiency of system. USE - The system is used for water purification. ADVANTAGE - The system is scalable, economical and does not produce any harmful by-products. The excellent performance can be achieved using electrical and magnetic mechanism rather than other methods. The system employs silver nanowires to produce electrical conductance and provides high surface area for the active, high throughput inactivation of bacteria in water. The use of cotton pad enables high speed filtration and avoids issues such as filter clogging and bioaccumulation. The system employs synthesized graphene oxide nanoparticles which exhibit properties including removal of maximum impurity, antibacterial activity, inertness, non-toxicity, chemical stability and affordability at low cost from natural and synthetic resources. The system is cheap, eco-friendly, easy to use, portable and can solve the major problem pertaining to availability of drinking water.
