NOVELTY - Graphene oxide based composite material preparation involves mixing 5-100 g graphite tablets and 3-60 g sodium nitrate in a container, placing the container in an ice bath with constant dropping of 100-3000 ml concentrated sulfuric acid for 0.5-5 hours, and then slowly adding 15-150 g potassium dichromate followed by stirring to prepare paste. The prepared paste is mixed with water and hydrogen peroxide after terminating the reaction followed by conventional centrifugal separation to obtain graphene oxide. USE - Method for preparing composite material based on graphene oxide for treating heavy metal ions in a water body. ADVANTAGE - The method prepares the composite material in a simple, cost-effective and eco-friendly manner without causing pollution of heavy metal ions and organic substances in the environment such as water body and atmosphere. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - Graphene oxide based composite material preparation involves mixing 5-100 g graphite tablets and 3-60 g sodium nitrate in a container, placing the container in an ice bath with constant dropping of 100-3000 ml concentrated sulfuric acid for 0.5-5 hours, and then slowly adding 15-150 g potassium dichromate followed by stirring to prepare paste. The prepared paste is mixed with water and hydrogen peroxide after terminating the reaction followed by conventional centrifugal separation to obtain graphene oxide, where the prepared graphene oxide is formulated into a concentration of 0.05-2 mg/ml solution. The silver nanowire is provided as a raw material to prepare silver nanowire solution with a concentration of 0.05-2 mg/ml, where the solvent is selected from tap water, deionized water or distilled water. 20-80 ml graphene oxide solution is mixed with 1-5 ml silver nanowire solution with stirring by using magnetic stirrer, where 0.1-2.5 g cobalt chloride is directly added to the mixed solution with stirring sufficiently to obtain uniform reaction solution. The resulting reaction solution is placed in a hydrothermal reactor for hydrothermal reaction to obtain graphene oxide composite gel. The solvent is removed by drying to obtain the graphene oxide composite airgel. The obtained graphene oxide composite airgel is placed in an oven with polymerized polymer for a period of time, where the polymer is volatilized and deposited on the graphene oxide composite airgel to get the remove the composite material after cooling naturally at room temperature.
