NOVELTY - Preparing metal mercury adsorbent comprises co-dissolving the graphene oxide, third periodic element, and the reducing agent in a solution of ethanol, taking ethylene glycol or tetrahydrofuran, and allowing the reaction, where the mass ratio of the graphene oxide and the compound of the third periodic element is (95-83):(4-16), filtering the first intermediate product to obtain filtrate, mixing the filtrate binder, and sequentially subjecting to extrusion molding and first drying to obtain molding material, where the mass ratio of the graphene oxide and the binder is (1-20):(1-80), impregnating the molding material using solution of group VI element as an impregnating agent, and drying for second time to obtain second intermediate product, and activating the second intermediate product in carbon dioxide atmosphere at 150-200 degrees C. USE - The method is useful for preparing metal mercury adsorbent.
