NOVELTY - The absorber is formed by successively stacking a resistor film (1), a dielectric layer (2), and an radio wave shielding layer (3). The absorbed radio waves to be absorbed by the radio wave absorber are radio waves of a high frequency band of a millimeter band or above. A protection layer (4) is provided above the resistor film. The thickness of the dielectric layer is less than a reference thickness, which is determined in accordance with the frequency of the absorbed radio waves and the permittivity of the dielectric layer. The value of the rate of decrease of the thickness of the dielectric layer from the reference thickness is less than the dielectric constant of the dielectric layer, when the frequency of the absorbed radio wave is 200 GHz or more and 414 GHz or less. USE - Radio wave interference type radio wave absorber for absorbing undesired radio waves, used for mobile communication in mobile phones, wireless local area network (LAN) and automatic electronic toll collection (ETC) system. ADVANTAGE - The absorbed radio wave is well absorbed, even when protective layer is formed on the surface of the resistance film to protect the resistance film. The protective layer protects the resistive film and satisfactorily absorbs desired absorbed radio waves. The radio wave absorber improves the weather resistance and resistance to physical impact of the resistive film by the protective layer, and suppresses the influence of the shift of the frequency of the radio wave to be absorbed by the protective layer. Thus, good radio wave absorption characteristics for absorbed radio waves are realized.
