NOVELTY - A porous carbon contains mesopores and macropores, and has pore volume of 0.5-5 cm3/g and volume resistivity of less than 1.0x 10-1 ( Omega ).cm. USE - Porous carbon. Uses include but are not limited to gas-adsorption material, water-processing agent, catalyst, and paste for electrode of enzyme electric power generation devices e.g. enzyme fuel cell and organic substance sensor. ADVANTAGE - The porous carbon has controlled pore size, and excellent electroconductivity. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for manufacture of porous carbon, which involves (i) preparing a slurry in which an electroconductive carbon material (A) and a dispersed resin (B) are mixed and dispersed in a liquid medium (C), (ii) removing the liquid medium (C) from the slurry to prepare granulated particles, and (iii) calcining the granulated particles at a temperature equal to or higher than the decomposition temperature of the dispersed resin (B).
