NOVELTY - The absorbent article comprises a liquid impermeable back sheet (4) and absorbent core interposed between the top sheet and the back sheet. A chassis has a front edge, a back edge and oppositely provided side edges connecting the front and back edges and running along a longitudinal axis. An elastic material component has cuffs extending parallel to the side edges having elastic elements. A detection device (113) can be removably attached to the absorbent article. The electrically conductive ink or adhesive has a material selected from the group consisting of graphene, graphite, poly(pyrrole)s (PPY), polyanilines (PANI), poly(thiophene)s (PT), poly(p-phenylene sulfide) (PPS), poly(p-phenylene) (PPP), Poly(acetylene)s (PAC), Poly(p-phenylene vinylene) (PPV), poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT), and preferably poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) polystyrene sulfonate.
