NOVELTY - Flaky mordenite (MOR) molecular sieve has thickness of a lamella of the flaky MOR molecular sieve is 20-80 nm. USE - Flaky mordenite (MOR) molecular sieve for use in catalyst that is for preparing ethanol by utilizing synthesis gas (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The thickness of the flaky mordenite (MOR) molecular sieve is 20-80 nm, the size of the flaky MOR molecular sieve is far smaller than that of the MOR molecular sieve used in the prior art, when the flaky MOR molecular sieve is used as a catalyst, an intermediate product in a reaction process is timely discharged, and the catalytic activity is good. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are included for: a process for the preparation of a lamellar mordenite (MOR) molecular sieve which involves i. mixing a silicon source, an aluminum source, inorganic base, water and a graphene composite material, and carrying out crystallization reaction to obtain a crystallization reaction material; ii. performing first roasting on the crystallization reaction material to obtain a molecular sieve precursor; iii. carrying out ammonium ion exchange reaction on the molecular sieve precursor, and carrying out second roasting on an obtained ammonium ion exchange reaction product. The graphene composite material comprises graphene, and a soft template agent and an MOR seed crystal which are loaded on the graphene; a catalyst for preparing ethanol by utilizing synthesis gas, which comprises a first copper-zinc-aluminum catalyst layer, a flaky MOR molecular sieve layer and a second copper-zinc-aluminum catalyst layer which are sequentially stacked; and a method for preparing ethanol by using synthesis gas, which involves under the condition of a catalyst, synthetic reaction is carried out on the synthetic gas to obtain ethanol.
