NOVELTY - A multilayered graphene material (118) comprises graphene layers having an intercalated nano or microstructures (106) that form a yolk/shell type structures. Each of the yolk/shell type structure comprises at least two graphene layers that form a shell-like structure which encompasses void space (114) having at least one of the nano or microstructures. The void space has required volume to allow volume expansion of nano or microstructures without deforming the shell-like structure. USE - Multilayered graphene material used in energy storage device e.g. rechargeable battery, and in catalytic membrane for catalyzing chemical reaction (all claimed) such as oxidative coupling of methane reaction, hydrogenation reaction, hydrocarbon cracking reaction, alkylation reaction, denitrogenation reaction, desulfurization reaction, Fischer-Tropsch reaction, syngas production reaction, three-way automobile catalysis reaction, reformation reactions and hydrogen generation reaction. Can also be used for capacitors, supercapacitors, electronic device, gas or liquid separation membrane, catalyst material, controlled release medium, sensor, structural component, gas capture or storage material, fuel cell, etc. ADVANTAGE - The graphene material has desired porosity, pore size and tunable void space size. The yolk can absorb metal ions. The three-dimensional expansion of the nano or microstructure in the void space reduces or avoids expansion of the graphene material and ultimately lowering or eliminating damage to the graphene material. The void space has required volume to allow volume expansion of the multiple nano or microstructures without deforming the shell-like structure. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for production of multilayered graphene material, which involves (a) obtaining a composition comprising graphene oxide layers (102,110) having intercalated graphene material (112) comprising composite (104) of nano or microstructures comprising a removable polymeric matrix (108), and (b) calcining the composition to reduce the graphene oxide layers to graphene layers and to remove the polymeric matrix to produce the multi-layered graphene material.
