NOVELTY - Aqueous conductive primer coating composition comprises: 5-10 wt.% carbon filler comprising a surface functionalized carbon filler; 10-20 wt.% water miscible organic solvent; 5-15 wt.% acrylic-based binder; and 0.5-5 wt.% crosslinking agent. USE - The composition is useful: in a coating process (claimed); and for coating plastic material. ADVANTAGE - The composition exhibits improved storage stability. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are also included for: (1) preparing (M1) an aqueous conductive primer coating composition, comprising providing the carbon filler, mixing the carbon filler with water, the water miscible solvent, the acrylic-based binder and the crosslinking agent, and optionally adjusting the pH of the mixture; (2) formation (M2) of a coating film, comprising (a) coating a substrate with an aqueous conductive primer coating composition, and (b) drying the aqueous conductive primer coating composition on to the substrate to form a dry primer layer; and (3) coated article, which is obtainable by coating a substrate by the method.
