NOVELTY - Room temperature hydrogen absorbing carbon aerogel material comprises 10-25 pts. wt. carbon aerogel, 0.1-1 pts. wt. metal catalyst and 75-90 pts. wt. alkynyl organic matter. The carbon aerogel is a mixture of graphene oxide and carbon nanotubes after high-temperature chemical reduction, and the metal catalyst and alkyne-based organic substance are simultaneously supported on the carbon aerogel. USE - Room temperature hydrogen absorbing carbon aerogel material. ADVANTAGE - The room temperature hydrogen absorbing carbon aerogel material has the characteristics of irreversible hydrogen absorption at room temperature, high hydrogen absorption capacity, formability, tailorability, adjustable thickness and convenient use. It can be used as a hydrogen absorbing cushion material in a closed container, which can effectively reduce the concentration of hydrogen and its isotopes in the container and prevent explosion hazard. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for a method for preparing the room temperature hydrogen absorbing carbon aerogel material, which involves: (A) performing a high temperature chemical reduction reaction on a mixed solution of graphene oxide and carbon nanotubes, followed by freeze drying to obtain a carbon aerogel; (B) placing a carbon aerogel in water and sequentially adding a salt solution of a metal catalyst and a sodium borohydride solution under ultrasonication, and then freeze-drying to obtain a carbon aerogel supporting the metal catalyst; and (C) infilterating the suspension containing alkynyl organic substance into the carbon aerogel supporting nano metal catalyst, and after drying, loading the carbon aerogel of alkynyl organic substance and nano metal catalyst simultaneously.
